Better, But Honest Enough? The 2018 Building Museums Symposium in Philadelphia

Walt Crim reflects on the recent Building Museums Symposium in Philadelphia. The Symposium featured sessions with voices across the museum (CFO, facilities staff, exhibit directors and design professionals for instance) discussing how projects were conceived and executed.  There was more of the backstory than the outcome photographs describing the years of work by museum staff before the design ever begins.  If there is a single takeaway – plan, re-plan and check the plan.  Budget, re-budget and check the budget.  Then make sure the outcomes are still worth it.
