Steven Rosen

Lighting Design

It was Steven’s keen interest in applying theatrical lighting techniques to traditionally non-theatrical environments that led to his founding Available Light in 1992. The originality and grand scale of Steven’s designs are evident in such one-of-a-kind award-winning projects as: The Neural Climber interactive experience at The Franklin Institute, the Aramco Oil Exhibit and the architectural installation of an all LED lighting system in the National Archives—home of the US Constitution.

Museum work honored with the coveted Themed Entertainment Association Award includes Liberty Science Center, The U-505 at MSI Chicago, the National Museum of the Marine Corp, The National Infantry Museum and The Reynolds Education Center at Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Rosen commitment to responsible design solutions, including assuring LEED certification for a number of projects, is central to his work. In 2003 he was bestowed the IALD Radiance Award—architectural lighting’s highest honor. Steven holds an MFA in Stage Design from NYU, currently serves as President of the IALD Education Trust and endows the Thomas Lemons Scholarship fund. He is the Founder, Principal, and Lead Designer of Available Light, Inc., based in Salem, MA.
